Kneading Earth – Water Buffalo

Kneading Earth Series: With technological advancements, traditional crafts often face a crisis of existence, yet they continue to develop. However, I believe the real crisis lies in the preparatory process of crafts, as technology creates multiple barriers between potters and raw materials. Through the action of hand-kneading and pit firing in the wild, I aim to break down these barriers.

    CHEN Wei-hsuan

The barefoot and bald mud man, who gathers clay from the land, shapes and fires it, transforms the myriad aspects of the land, the joy and sorrow of past farming endeavors, along with perspectives and reflections encountered during the clay modeling process, into ceramic works rich in wildness and imbued with a sense of satire.
