Wind-Virudhaka/ Gentle-Dhrtarastra/ Rain-Vaisravana/ Timely-Virupaksa

In artistic creation, the creator extracts the content, form, or techniques of traditional painting, while adding personal ideas, which may be personal faith experiences or reinterpretations of faith, and transforming them into works. LIAO Chin-chang was originally a traditional art master who studied under DING Ching-shi. After being exposed to academic painting techniques, he developed material experiments different from traditional painting media, changing to poster colors for painting material preparation. In terms of the posture and expression of the figures, he used livelier and exaggerated lines.

LIAO Ching-Chang, born in Yunlin in 1959, was trained by TING Ching-Shih and CHEN Bin-Shen to paint traditional temples. In 1982, he established his own workshop and began painting deities and temple doors. He later transitioned to ink paintings and has been selected by the likes of Nanying Awards, Tainan Fine Arts Exhibition and other large art exhibitions numerous times. In 2000, Liao won first place for the Tainan City Traditional Craftsmanship Competition and first place for Tainan Fine Arts Exhibition in 2D art in 2001. In 2015, LIAO was awarded the title of preserver in traditional decorative painting conservation from the Tainan City Government.
